How to set reminders by voice on Android (in any language)
A reminder you can set in three seconds is one you'll actually set. With a voice assistant you just say it — “remind me to call the bank at 10” — and it's done. Here's how to do it reliably, which phrases work best, and what to check when a reminder doesn't go off.
The short version
Open your voice assistant and say what and when: “Remind me to pay the rent tomorrow at 9.” That's all most assistants need. The rest of this guide is about making it work every time.
With Kora
Say “Hey Kora” (Kora Plus) or open Kora and tap the mic, then speak normally:
- One-off: “Remind me to call Grace at 6 pm.”
- Relative: “Remind me to drink water in 2 hours.”
- Repeating: “Remind me every Monday at 8 to take out the bins.”
- Alarms: “Wake me up at 6:30.”
- Changed your mind: “Cancel the reminder about the bins.”
Kora works in 50+ languages, so you can say it in whichever language you think in — and mix in names and places as you normally would.
With Google's assistant
Google's assistant can also create reminders on many phones (they're usually saved in Google Tasks or Calendar). Say “Remind me to … at …”. Whether it works in your language and region depends on your phone and settings.
Without an assistant
For a single wake-up time, the Clock app's alarms are the most reliable option. For notes with a reminder, apps like Google Keep or Google Tasks let you set a time by hand. Both take a few taps rather than a sentence.
Phrases that work well
- Put the time last: “Remind me to send the invoice at 4.”
- Be specific about the day: “on Friday”, “tomorrow morning”, “on the 15th”.
- For repeats, say the pattern: “every day”, “every weekday”, “every first of the month”.
- Keep the task short — a few words is enough to jog your memory.
When a reminder doesn't ring
Almost always it's a phone setting, not the assistant:
- Notifications: make sure the app is allowed to show notifications.
- Battery saving: some phones stop apps in the background. In Settings → Apps → [the app] → Battery, choose Unrestricted or turn off optimisation.
- Alarms & reminders permission: on Android 12 and newer, check Settings → Apps → [the app] → Alarms & reminders is allowed.
- Do Not Disturb: allow alarms and reminders through, or add the app as an exception.
Common questions
Can I set repeating reminders by voice?
Yes. Say the pattern — “every Monday at 8”, “every day at 9 pm” — and the reminder repeats until you cancel it.
Can I set reminders in Spanish, Portuguese, Russian or Turkish?
Yes. Kora understands reminders in 50+ languages. Speak the way you normally would, including local ways of saying the time.
Why didn't my reminder go off?
Usually battery optimisation, notifications being off, the Alarms & reminders permission, or Do Not Disturb. See the checklist above.
Can I cancel a reminder by voice?
With Kora, yes: “Cancel the reminder about the dentist.”
